This a large reef and depending on the current’s direction your dive can be carried out in different ways.
We always start at a depth of just 10 metres on an immense sand esplanade, from which thousands of garden eels emerge; they make the sea floor look like a prairie of broadblade sea grass. You will also encounter numerous blue spotted sting rays. By choosing a direction to go in you will explore one of the most beautiful coral gardens in the area, a mixture of various types of sponge, hard and soft corals with various shapes, gorgonians, soft corals, clown fish, mantis shrimps, leaf fish, and with a bit of luck mimic and blue ring octopuses.
In the opposite direction there is a spectacular vertical coral wall with thick branches of black coral, sponges so big they can hold a person, gorgonians and schools of brightly coloured fish such as blue trigger fish and fusilier fish. You may encounter Napoleon fish, sting rays and mobulas. By continuing to a depth of 23 metres you will see a beautiful and brightly coloured grotto which can be visited, being extremely careful in the process. Strange soft coral hangs down from the ceiling, creating particularly effective scenarios in photos taken pointing outwards, which make use of the light which comes in from the cracks in the rocks.
Before rising to the surface you will see pygmy sea horse pontoys, denise pygmys and ghost pipe fish. The richness and beauty of the colours and the life forms at the top of this reef is also very suitable for people who go snorkelling; you may see schools of bumped head parrot fish. |
